'Party of professionals'

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh expressed confidence of winning all seven Lok Sabha seats in the city as he inducted an office bearer of the Bar Council of Delhi into the party. Murari Tiwari, secretary of Bar Council of Delhi, and several other members of the bar joined the Congress on Friday.

Arvinder Singh slammed the BJP for fielding people who were “outsiders”. New Delhi constituency candidate Ajay Maken welcomed Tiwari into the party, saying the Congress had always tried to promote professionals.

Arvinder Singh said Maken was pitted against lawyer and BJP’s candidate Meenakshi Lekhi whose own party members were opposed to her. “The joining of lawyers into the Congress ahead of elections shows the confidence professionals have in our party,” said Maken.
