A rowdy was hacked to death in Padmanabhanagar, Banashankari police limits on Sunday evening. According to police, Naveen alias Suri, 30, a resident of Cottonpet, was killed at his friend’s house at around 4.30 pm.

Police said Thoppu Raja, a resident of Padmanabhanagar and a friend of Naveen, invited him to his place for a drink. Naveen had carried liquor to Raja’s house.

Later that night, they had a heated argument which took a violent turn when Raja took an iron rod and struck Naveen on his head. Naveen started bleeding profusely and Raja fled the spot.

Hearing Naveen’s screams, the neighbours rushed to Raja’s house and found Naveen lying in a pool of blood and he had succumbed to his injuries.

A senior police officer said, “Naveen was a prime suspect in the murder of rowdy Gupendra and Raja was sent to jail on the charge of murdering his wife in 2009. He was released on bail recently.”

Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Raja.
