Four arrested in girl's murder case

Another accused is still at large, the police said. The victim, Saujanya (19), a resident of Gunaganahalli in Kanakapura taluk had come to City to live with her distant relatives, Rathnamma and her husband Shivaraj in JP Nagar. The prime accused, Seenappa, is  Rathnamma’s younger  brother.

An illicit affair developed between Shivaraj and Saujanya over a period of time and things took an ugly turn when Rathnamma came to know about the relationship.
Complaints and counter complaints were lodged with the Kanakapura police. But, Shivaraj continued his affair with Saujanya, police said.

Rathnamma sought her brother Seenappa to solve the problem. Seenappa, along with his accomplices abducted Saujanya, tied her legs and hands with ropes and threw her in River Cauvery near Muttathi.

Woman arrested

Upparpet police have recovered jewellery worth Rs 4.75 lakh by arresting a woman. Veena (26) of Bhadravathi used to steal valuables by diverting attention of the passengers in buses. A non-bailable warrant issued in 2005 is pending against her.

Doctor’s house burgled

Thieves struck at a pediatrician's house and made away with gold jewellery worth Rs 5.5 lakh on Kumara Krupa Road on Thursday. Dr Nalini Krishnan had left her house in Madhavnagar for her clinic, around 10.30 am. The burglary came to light when she returned home in the night.

Chain snatched

Two unidentified bike-borne miscreants snatched gold chain worth Rs 50,000 from a woman in Jayanagar 5th Block on Friday.

Prabhavathi Hanume Gowda was on her way to a wedding when the pillion rider of a two-wheeler snatched her chain from behind.  She resisted his attempt but ended up with only a portion of the chain.  

Man robbed of car

A gang of four robbed a man of his car in T Dasarahalli on Thursday night. Sathish (39), a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, was on his way home when four persons stopped his car near Summanahalli junction crematorium, dragged him out and sped away .
