Learn India's heritage, Malaysian students told

Addressing the gathering at the 12th Melaka-Manipal Medical College (MMMC- Manipal campus) annual day celebrations and awards ceremony here on Friday, he expressed concern regarding difficulties and challenges faced by the students who have completed their studies, when they enter the real world.

The students should get acquainted to counter these challenges of life besides imbibing compassionate quality to serve their fellow beings, he said.

He noted that as many as 645 Malaysian students are studying Medicine under Manipal University.

He lauded the efforts of the Chancellor Dr Ramdass Pai in developing a “centre of excellence” in a rural set up and added that he was impressed and inspired by the campus as well as the performance of the Malaysian students here.

Sung announced that the Prime Minister of Malaysia is scheduled to visit India next month to improve the ties between the two nations.

Consul General of Malaysia from Chennai, Anuar Kasman, Manipal University Chancellor Dr Ramdas Pai, Registrar (International Studies) Dr Vinod Bhat, Registrar Dr G K Prabhu, Dean of MMMC Dr Ramnarayan and others were present on the occasion.

The MMMC is a twinning programme where Malaysian students study the first two years of medicine in Manipal University and then move on to Melaka to complete their studies as per the understanding between the two countries. Their degrees are awarded by Manipal University.
