AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi has said that Kasaragod would be transformed into an industrial hub if the Congress is elected to power.

Addressing a Congress rally at Kasargod on Saturday, he said that the Congress will give priority to health sector. Employment will be generated by  setting up of industries in the industrial corridor. “The UPA government gave the people Right to Education, Right to Food and Right to Information. The UPA government will promise of Right to Health in the future.”

The Congress government if elected to power will set up an industrial corridor, connecting the major cities in the country. Thousands of factories and manufacturing units will come up on this corridor, which will help in the development process of the country.

Flaying the CPM, the AICC Vice President said that the Left Parties will not play a vital role in the national politics. “Voting the CPM is indirectly helping the BJP to come to power.”

The Congress is the only party which balances prosperity and fairness to ensure overall development in the country. For any society to move forward you need prosperity and fairness. “The BJP and the CPM are two faces of a same coin. Both the parties are trying to come to power using the force of violence. With their ‘India Shining’ campaign, BJP-led NDA government made a few corporates rich at the cost of crores of poor Indians.  Though Left parties speak on farmers and implement wrong policies, which will affect farmers,” Gandhi said.

Praising the participation of people, especially women in politics and effective Panchayat Raj system in Kerala, he said that Kerala is a role model for other states. He said that the Congress leadership will look into the issue of Endosulfan victims in Kasargod and take necessary steps. He also promised that if elected, the UPA government will do the needful in arecanut farmers’ issues in the district.

Rahul Gandhi arrived at Kasargod in a chopper at 11.30 am from Mangalore.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC President V M Sudheeran, Kasargod Lok Sabha constituency UDF candidate T Siddique, District Congress Committee President C K Sreedharan were present.
