Be impartial, poll observer tells officials

“It is the responsibility of all officials on duty to make way for free and fair elections. They should perform them without any fault,” she said addressing a training programme here on Saturday. Only specified persons can be allowed into the booth. However, disabled and illiterate can avail the help of assistants below 18 years, she noted.Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayan Gowda said the elections are the foundation of democracy and hence utmost importance should be assigned while handling them.

Additional DC Chandre Gowda and Joint Director of Agriculture K R Krishnaiah explained the rules and regulations to be followed by the presiding officers and police personnel during the polls. The polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on December 18.
