Cong, SP, BSP indulging in WWF-like fights in UP: Modi

Last Updated 06 April 2014, 12:38 IST

Narendra Modi today took a jibe at the Congress, SP and BSP, saying the three parties are indulging in ''stage-managed'' WWF-like fights in Uttar Pradesh but come together to grab power at the Centre.

The BJP Prime Ministerial candidate also targeted Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav accusing them of indulging in vote bank politics and "misleading" Muslims in the name of secularism.

"The Congress has two soldiers in Uttar Pradesh. These people from Congress, SP and BSP are indulging in WWF (World Wrestling Federation) fights that you see on TV. These people indulge in stage managed fights in Lucknow but they come together to grab power in Delhi," he said while addressing a rally in Bijnore.

"These three parties are misleading the people of this country and state and it is the time to bring in a change in this country. You have already suffered but the time is to make sure that your children don't suffer," he said.

The BJP leader said the people have even before elections voiced the need for change and this time, "even the CBI cannot save the UPA government in these elections."

Asking people to provide a strong majority to the BJP in the coming elections, he said the voters should ensure victory of BJP and NDA candidates and get them at least 300 seats.

"If the teacher is weak, even kids don't like to go to school. So, make sure that the country gets a strong government and not a weak one. Please ensure that BJP gets more than 300 seats," Modi said.

He reminded the voters that they have elected rulers for the last 60 years but "this time you elect a servant for next 60 months and I promise to do things which they have not done in last 60 years."

At a rally in Aligarh, Modi sought to blame Sonia and Mulayam for the communal clashes in the country, saying "700 riots took place right under the nose of Madam Soniaji in the last one year and 250 of them took place right here under Netaji (Yadav) in Uttar Pradesh."

"In a recent speech, Madam Soniaji talked about the 15-point programme for developing 90 Muslim-dominated districts in the country of which 15 are in UP. But when an MP asked about the work under the project, Soniaji's UPA government said not a single paise has been spent in last one year. This is an example of misleading the Muslims and people," he said.

The Gujarat Chief Minister charged that the Congress, SP and the BSP do "vote bank politics and sing songs of secularism. What they do is just talking. They only talk of secularism but their politics is all about keeping all classes poor through their politics."
