Residents approach police over blocked road

Members of Federation of Thubarahalli Apartment Owners’ Association have lodged a police complaint alleging blocking of the Kundanahalli-Vibgyor School.

“The road has been blocked since April 7 causing inconvenience to residents. We will stage a peaceful protest on Wednesday if the Palike does not take any action,” Raghu Kumar P, a member of the association said.

Under Palike limits

Residents maintained that a few people who own a vacant land at the entrance of the lane had dug the road claiming that it belonged to them.

The members said that more than 8,000 people stay in the area and the approach road to the residential locality had not been asphalted though it comes under the Palike limits.

“We held a protest in October last year and the BBMP assured to start road development work by December, but did not. The civic agency issued a work order for taking up tarring and drainage works among others on February 21, 2014. Around 5,000 vehicles ply on this road and two schools are located here. Considering all these factors at least, the Palike should take action,” said Vamshi Krishna, another resident.

Meanwhile, residents maintained that the Varthur police have acknowledged the complaint and assured them that the matter will be looked into.
