The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court seeking audio transcripts of the statements made by captain M S Dhoni and ousted chief N Srinivasan before the Justice Mudgal panel which probed spot fixing and betting in IPL.

The BCCI had earlier questioned Dhoni’s indictment by the panel. The panel had found Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan guilty of betting in the IPL.

The panel had also trashed the statements made before it by Dhoni and Srinivasan that Meiyappan was merely a cricket enthusiast and had nothing to do with the cricketing affairs of Chennai Super Kings.

The board, in fact, claimed that Dhoni had never made such a statement.

In a fresh application, the BCCI on Wednesday sought transcripts as its counsel C A Sundaram mentioned the matter before the bench.

“We are seeking audio transcripts of all the interviews conducted by the probe panel during its inquiry. Various statements are being attributed to Srinivasan, Dhoni and Sunder Rajan that should not have been made,” the counsel submitted.

The court accepted the plea and posted the matter for hearing on Friday. The court also asked the BCCI to furnish a copy of the application by the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB).
The apex court gave the green signal for IPL 7 and also allowed Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals to participate in the tournament.
