Three injured in Metro site mishap

Last Updated 06 December 2009, 13:49 IST

Acting swift after the mishap, the DMRC ordered an internal inquiry into the incident that took place late last night at the Govindpuri station, which is part of the Central Secretariat-Badarpur line.

The three workers, who were placing 'shuttering plates' on the raised platform inside the station, fell from the platform around 11 pm last night, DMRC sources said.
They said the injured were immediately rushed to Moolchand Hospital. Two of them were discharged but the third one is being kept under observation.
The third labourer has sustained severe head injuries, but his condition is stated to be stable, the sources said.

They said an enquiry has been ordered into the incident that comes a fortnight after a young boy was injured when a metal girder on which he was sitting toppled at a Metro construction site. The boy entered site without authorisation.
The construction work at the Govindpuri site is being carried out by Gammon India, the contracting firm that was barred by the DMRC for two years from taking part in future contracts.
