A day before the deadline, campaigning intensifies

With just a day remaining to wind up the public campaign, candidates of the Lok Sabha elections from all political parties on Monday did a brisk campaigning. 

They made it a point to garland the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar on the occasion of his 123rd birth anniversary before commencing the day's campaign. Another common feature of the campaigning on Monday was candidates greeting the representatives of Tamil Sangam on the eve of Solar New Year.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy took part in a roadshow, campaigning for Bangalore Central Congress candidate Rizwan Arshad at Sarvagnanagar where Malayalam-speaking people are in good number.

Home Minister K J George also accompanied him. Rizwan later met representatives of Tamil Sangam, Bangalore. Actor Malavika Avinash conducted a roadshow at Gandhinagar, campaigning for BJP candidate from Bangalore Central P C Mohan. Earlier, Mohan garlanded Thiruvalluvar statue at Halasur.

Bangalore South BJP candidate H N Ananth Kumar took out a padayatra at Jayanagar and a bike rally at BTM Layout along with the party workers. He later met local Tamil Sangam representatives. His rival Nandan Nilekani of the Congress roped in his family members and relatives for the campaign.

Ruth Manorama (JD-S)  conducted a door-to-door campaign at Padmanabhanagar. Actor Bhavana sought votes for Bangalore North Congress candidate C Narayanaswamy  at Dasarahalli, while D V Sadananada Gowda (BJP) conducted a padayatra at Malleswaram and Sadashivanagar. Bangalore North JD(S) candidate Abdul Azim campaigned at Lingarajpuram, DJ Halli, Dasarahalli and Peenya industrial area.
