Budding designers take a bow

Last Updated 21 April 2014, 18:53 IST
Feeling on top of the world, the students-turned-designers of Satyam Fashion Institute couldn’t restrain their emotions as they took a bow with their friends who modelled their creations on the ramp, during the recently organised annual fashion show – VISTA ’14.

Dazzling the ramp with bold colours, the models showcased the hard work of graduating students of the institute, who created the garments in the 13 different themes for the jury round.

From ‘Mughal Architecture’ and ‘Indian Heroes’ to ‘Mahakumbh’ and ‘Topiary’, all themes were explored by the students who wanted their garments to be fashionable, yet true to the Indian culture.

Even the architecture of skyscraper city of Dubai became the inspiration for one of the students who created a garment on  ‘Kido Geometric land’.

It was, however, Akanksha Gupta’s creation themed on ‘Chaos to Couture’ that garnered the maximum positive response.

She took her inspiration from ‘Glam Punk’ and designed casual and sassy dresses.

Translated most accurately for today’s woman, in shades of black, red, orange, and a warm colour palette, the designer wear drew a lot of attention.

The ramp gleamed with swarovski, studs and other metals that adorned ensembles paying tribute to the ‘razzle-dazzle’.

The glitterati of the event also saw an interesting segment on ‘Mahakumbh’. The collection was inspired by unpretentiously drapes of the ‘fakirs’ which lie in the nuances of asymmetrical designs and patterns.

The assortment was a mix of thousand shades of saffron and to spice it up were accessories and headgear made of rudraksha with a hint of feathers.

One after the other, as the models sashayed the experimental creations by budding designers, the audience witnessed an eclectic mix of glamour and fashion.

The show also saw the presence of known personalities from the fashion industry such as Rajdeep Ranawat, Niket and Jainee Mishra, Geetanjali Ranawat, Aamir Zakir, Sonia Jetley and Varija Bajaj who encouraged the students and boosted their morale.

On the occasion Manjulika Gautam, director general, SFI said, “With the modern and cultural revolutions of fashion concepts having undergone a tremendous change; fashion now is a perfect design, a technology, a science to be studied and to be communicated.

Our fashion shows and events encourage our women students to realise their true worth and potential by engaging them in various themes.”
