Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday filed his nomination papers from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat after holding a roadshow in the city.

The AAP leader took it as an opportunity to launch a scathing attack on the BJP’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

He accused Rahul of neglecting his Lok Sabha constituency (Amethi) and alleged that the people of the area had complained to him (Kejriwal) that the Congress leader remained inaccessible to common people.

Tremendous support

As for Modi, Kejriwal said he had, according to reports, spent a whopping Rs 5,000 crore on advertisements. The AAP leader also claimed he was getting tremendous support from the people of Varanasi.

Kejriwal declared assets worth Rs 2.13 crore in the affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers.

His movable assets are worth Rs 4.25 lakh while his immovable property stood at Rs 92 lakh. His wife Sunita holds movable assets worth Rs 17.41 lakh while her immovable assets amount to Rs 1 crore, according to the affidavit.

Sunita also has 300 gm of gold and silver weighing 500 gm in jewellery worth Rs 9.24 lakh. Kejriwal does not own any vehicles and has six cases pending against him.
