<p>Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Shobha Karandlaje said the Nali-Kali activity based learning for standard one and two students was restricted only to 14,000 schools.<br /><br />Based on the positive feedback from various stakeholders regarding the system of learning, the government decided to extend it to all schools, Karandlaje said. <br /><br />The Nali-Kali method of learning gives larger autonomy to the teacher and also helps in creating an ambience for the child to learn in a fun-filled way. The scheme is being funded under Sarva Shikasha Abhiyan (SSA).<br /><br />The Cabinet decided to extend the scholarship scheme of providing cash awards for SC/ST girls who secure above 60 per cent marks in SSLC to boys also. Under the scheme, SC/ST girls who secure 75 percent and above in SSLC get a cash award of Rs 10,000, while those who secure more than 60 percent get Rs 5,000. <br /><br />A total of 36,000 boys and girls will now benefit from the scheme. However, the candidate should continue studies to avail the benefit.<br /><br />Karandlaje said the Cabinet gave its nod for payment of UGC scales to 436 lecturers who had been appointed on a stop-gap arrangement in 1992.<br />DH News Service</p>
