Project to take care of patients suffering from chronic diseases

Last Updated 23 April 2014, 20:27 IST

In a move to strengthen “Speciality Home Healthcare,” a new company, Medwell ventures, is all set to be launched by private investors. The focus is on taking care of patients suffering from chronic diseases at home, avoiding chances of re-admissions.

Bangalore-based Nightingales Home Health Services has been acquired as part of the project. The services include a consulting physician at home, nurses, caretakers, ambulances and pharmacy devices. Although it claims that the service would be cost-effective, with respect to commuting to and fro to the hospitals and getting admitted, the real scenario will only be known once it gets started.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Vishal Bali, former CEO of Fortis Healthcare, now a part of Medwell ventures, said: “The service focuses on the shift from in-patient to out-patient. There is no need for a patient to be taken to hospital if proper care is given at home.”
