Bagan edge out Shillong

Mohun Bagan rode on a Christopher Chizoba goal in the 75th minute to beat Shillong Lajong FC 2-1 and end their I-League season on a winning note here on Sunday.

Pankaj Moula gave Mohun Bagan the lead in the sixth minute and they held on to their lead till the half-time.

Lajong hit match in the 61st minute. Boithang Haokip fired the ball to the roof of the net to put his side on level terms.

It was, however, the hosts who found the net once again in the 75th minute after Chizoba ran past Jibon Singh and then fired his shot into the goal past Lajong custodian Lalt­huammawia Ralte.

Shillong Lajong FC ended their I-League campaign with 33 points from 24 games, while Mohun Bagan finished with 28.

In Mumbai, Mohammedan Sporting defeated Mumbai FC 2-1, with Penn Orji’s 85th minute goal proving decisive.

Ebi Sukore put Mumbai FC ahead in the 20th minute. Five minutes later, Taro Hasegawa equalised for Mohammedans.
