The victims are Mohammed Ashraf (27) of Marnamikatta and Farooq (22) of Adyar Padavu.

In the first incident, at Marnamikatta, a group of 10-12 persons, allegedly the members of Bajrang Dal, attacked Mohammed Ashraf with lethal weapons at around 11.30 pm on Thursday. He sustained injuries on his face, neck and back and was admitted to a private hospital in the city.
Ashraf, who has been working as a health and safety personnel in Saudi Arabia, is in the city on a six-month vacation. Ashraf said the group was teasing him for the past two months whenever he was out of his home, passing cheap comments, and on Thursday, they assaulted him with a bottle and a sword.
In fact, Ashraf is the second person in his family to be attacked by the miscreants. The same group had attacked his brother Mohammed Irfan (19) last year for no reason.

Sri Rama Sene act

In yet another incident, four persons, allegedly the members of Sri Rama Sene, assaulted one Farooq (22) an autorickshaw driver in Adyarpadav, on the outskirts of the City. As identified by the victim himself, Mangalore Rural (Kankanady) police have arrested one Annu of Adyarpadav, who is one among the four accused.
Farooq, recuperating in a private hospital, told Deccan Herald that he was assaulted with a sword on his back when he was returning home after buying milk from a nearby shop around 9.30 pm on Thursday.

“Four persons including Annu, who is from our own place, approached me from behind and assaulted on my back leaving a deep wound. They shouted ‘Jai Sri Ram’ often and threatened to ‘finish’ all the members of our community in the area,” Farooq stated. “We (Farooq and Annu) know each other for many years and do not have any old enmity. The only reason for the attack on me is that I’m a Muslim,” he added.

Bashir, a neighbour of Farooq said, the people of the Adyar and even the family members of Annu do not have a good opinion on him (Annu) since he has been involved in various cases earlier. He was one of the accused in the last September’s pub attack incident and was in jail till recently.
