The Federation of Karnataka Electricity Board Employees’ Union and Association has condemned a statement made by senior Congress leader K R Ramesh Kumar against Bescom officials and has sought the Speaker to disqualify him from Assembly.

Reacting to Kumar’s statement at a Zilla Panchayat meeting in Kolar, that villagers should hack Bescom officials if they enter their villages, M Nagaraj. president of the association said that the comment was “unbecoming of an elected representative.”Kumar had made the statement at the ZP meeting after it was learnt that Bescom officials had booked criminal cases against three panchayat development officers for temporarily energising borewells.

“The Bescom officials were doing their duty as the electricity connections to the borewells were illegal. Such statements are not acceptable at any cost. We seek the MLA’s disqualification and will launch a state-wide agitation soon”, Nagaraj stated in a press release.
