Today, the entire Kallara Sante team along with many people from the industry will stage a protest against the regional censor board.

While the movie has got an UA Certificate, the censor board has asked them to mute words like gani (mine) and gani looti (looting the mine) or bring in an alternative word. “But there is no alternative word for gani looti in Kannada,” Sumana told Metrolife. The fact that the movie has received an UA Certificate has not troubled her at all, “We have no issue with the certification as we do understand that children may not understand politics so much and we also have a suicide attempt scene,” she adds.

The censor board has also asked them to mute words like Vidhana Soudha and High Court as well. “So through this protest, I would like to ask them to provide the alternative words. I really don’t know what is wrong with such words,” she says. Moreover words like kal nan maga (son of thieves) and kallaru (thieves) have also faced objections.

“Interestingly, according to the censor board, we are allowed to use these words in a singular form like kalla but we cannot generalise them by saying kallaru,” says Sumana, who is all set to seek justice today. Kallara Sante which stars Yash and Haripriya will release on December 18.
