A retired doctor allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of his flat in Sanjaynagar on Friday afternoon.

The victim, Dr Chandrashekhar Pattabhiraman, 75, was a resident of Anshuman Apartment, Basaveshwara Layout, Nagashettyhalli Main Road, Sanjaynagar.

Having retired from the National Informatics Centre 20 years ago, he was staying in the second floor flat (201) with his wife Banumathi, police said.

He has two daughters Vidya, residing in Whitefield, and Sujatha, living in Singapore. He came out of the flat around 1.20 pm and went upstairs, went to the fourth floor and jumped to his death, while his wife was inside, police said.

Hearing some noise, Banumathi came out looking for her husband and went to the fourth floor and noticed his towel lying. Growing suspicious, she looked down only to find her husband lying in a pool of blood, police said. A death note was recovered in which he wrote: “Nobody is responsible for my action.”

The police shifted the body to M S Ramaiah Hospital for post-mortem.
