Crops damaged in Bidar

The district has suffered extensive crop damage due to the unseasonal rain and hailstorm in the first week of March.

According to the information available with the Agriculture department, the district recorded an average rainfall of 61.8 mm March 3 to March 9.

It rained 72.8 mm in Aurad taluk followed by 60.2 mm in Bhalki, 59.1 mm in Bidar, 58.9 mm in Bassava­ka­lyan and 58 mm in Humanabad.

Standing crops on 21,398 hectares were damaged due to the unseasonal rain. Jowar grown on 10,901 hectares had been damaged due to the rains.

Two persons have lost life due to the rain fury till now.

The district received 11.7 mm rain in April, which is half the normal rain of 20.2 mm.

It has rained 8.1 mm in the first week of May.
