2 held, brown sugar seized

On a tip off, the police arrested them near Mayur Paradise lodge in Gandhinagar when they were allegedly trying to sell the banned substance.

The two men told police that they bought the substance from Mumbai and wanted to sell in Bangalore for a profit.

Couple lose valuables

An evening outing proved costly for a couple after they lost Rs 1.25 lakh worth jewellery in Kamakshipalya on Tuesday evening.

According to the complaint filed by Manjunath Bidari, he and his wife had stopped their two-wheeler near a food joint on Siddaiah Puranik Road to have chaat. Since it was dark, his wife removed the jewels and gave it to Bidari. He wrapped them in a handkerchief, put them in a polythene bag and hung it onto his motorcycle handle.

While eating at the food joint, the couple realised that they did not have the bag containing the valuables. When they rushed to their vehicle, they found the bag missing. However, the police have decided to question Manjunath and his wife before going ahead with the investigation.

Bike thief held

The Magadi Road police arrested a Vinay of Laggere and recovered 12 bikes worth Rs five lakh. He had lifted the bikes from Malleswaram, Rajajinagar, Subramanyanagar, Vijaynagar and RT Nagar, police said. Vinay, they said used duplicate keys to steal bikes parked in front of houses during nights.
