Modi rushes to meet RSS chief

After campaigning for the nine-phase general elections came to an end on Saturday, the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi rushed to met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat here to brief him about his expectations from the polls.

Modi first met ailing former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee after his close companion Rajkumari Kaul passed away earlier this month after prolonged illness.

“After addressing the final campaign rally came to seek Atalji’s blessings. Had met him when campaign started. Its always special to meet him,” tweeted the Gujarat chief minister, who is also a candidate from Varanasi, which goes to polls on Monday.

Modi is also contesting from the Vadodara seat in Gujarat.

Later he drove down to BJP chief Rajnath Singh’s residence to discuss the possible outcome of the last phase of voting.

Taking stock

Modi’s meeting with Bhagwat and other top leaders at the RSS headquarters in Jhandewalan was essentially to take stock of the situation and the possible outcome which will be announced on Friday, said sources.

The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate also took to blogging to share his views. He felt that the National Democratic Alliance stood a good chance since people were fed up of corruption, dynastic politics and false promises.

Thanking the people for lending him support during campaigning, he assured them “unprecedented development” in order to build “one India, strong India.”
