9 held for killing small-time trader

The West Division police have solved two recent murder cases in Kamakshipalya and Upparpet police limits, by arresting 11 people.

The police said nine people were arrested for allegedly murdering 30-year-old Sadiq Pasha, a small-time businessman, over a property dispute.

On May 7, Pasha’s body was found lying near Summanahalli bridge and passersby informed the Kamakshipalya police.

Police arrested Ishrat, 37, sister of Pasha, Jabeer Ahmed 27, Mohammed Zameer, 37, Zahir, 25, Sikander Khan, 23, Shabeer Khan, 20, Asif Ali Baig, 24, Syed, 23, and Shabbudin Khan, 25, all from Bangalore. Abdul Waheed, the brother of Pasha, and Nayeem are absconding.

The police have recovered vehicles, mobile phones and assault weapons used for the murder.

The police said that during interrogation, it emerged that Pasha’s brother Waheed and sister Ishrat had given ‘supari’ to Mohammed Zameer, a rowdy-sheeter, and physically handicapped who had lost his leg in an accident.

He used to carry out contract killings in the City, the police said.

Pasha was the owner of a few properties given by his in-laws. Waheed and Ishrat planned to kill him so that they could get their father’s property as well as the property given to Pasha by his in-laws, the police added.

They called Zameer and gave him Rs 4 lakh to eliminate Pasha. Zameer gathered a few people and gave them Rs 10,000 each and planned to murder Pasha. They executed the plan on May 7 and went absconding.

Property dispute suspected

The police suspected that the reason for the killing might be property dispute because, in 2008, a case was booked against Pasha for assaulting his sister and brother.
The police picked up Ishrat for questioning and she confessed to giving ‘supari’ to kill Pasha.

On the information provided by her, the rest of the suspects were picked up from different parts of the City.
