YSR Congress candidate B Shobha Nagi Reddy on Friday created a history of sorts by posthumously winning the Allagadda Assembly segment in this district.
Shobha had died in a road accident after the last day of withdrawal of nominations but, riding a sympathy wave with her children campaigning for her, she has emerged victorious by a margin of more than 16,000 votes. Her husband Bhuma Nagi Reddy, also a YSR Congress nominee, won from the Nandyal Assembly segment.
The Election Commission had said in the event she gets the majority votes, a re-election will be ordered.
