Double for Archana

Archana Pai bagged a grand double, emerging winner in the girls’ singles under-17 and under-19 categories in the Purvankara-Sadashivanagar State-ranking badminton tourney here on Wednesday. 

Archana faced stiff challenge from Ashwini Bhat K before prevailing 21-17, 11-21, 21-12 in the U-17 final while she set aside Peksha Nayak 21-15, 21-10 to clinch the U-19 title.

Rahul Bharadhvaj scored a facile 21-8, 21-7 win over Avinash Srinivas to clinch the boys’ under-15 title while  Shashank Reddy overcame Pruthi Roy 21-14, 21-19 to wear the boys’ under-13 crown.

Results: Boys singles (final): U-15: Rahul Bhardhvaj BM bt Avinash Srinivas 21-8, 21-7.
Semifinals: Avinash Srinivas bt Shamanth Rao Kidiyoor 21-6, 21-8; Rahul Bhardhvaj BM bt Mayuresh Janpandit 21-10, 21-5.

U-13 final: Shashank Reddy V bt Pruthvi Roy K 21-14, 21-19.

U-17 singles (semifinals): Syed Saad Ali bt Mithun Manjunath, 21-19, 22-20; Rahul Bhardhvaj BM bt Akshay Srinivas S 20-22, 21-6, 21-16.
