<p>The Home department has announced the names of Prison Advisory Board members for five of the eight divisional central jails in the State. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The five PABs are for Bangalore, Mysore, Bellary, Dharwad and Belgaum central jails. The PABs will facilitate the pre-mature release of prisoners on good behaviour. In Bangalore, an eight-member PAB has been formed for the purpose.<br /><br /> The members include the Prisons Inspector General of Police (IGP), the district and sessions court judge, the district surgeon and three non-official persons. For Bangalore Central jail PAB, the three persons nominated are B Vijaykumar, Abdul Rehman and Sister Adele. <br /><br />The three persons are chosen from various walks of life, with an impartial view on the behaviour of prisoners. Similarly, the department has constituted eight-member PABs for the other divisional central jails. The department has nominated writers and social workers for these PABs.<br /><br />On January 30, the State government had resolved to release select prisoners on the grounds of good behaviour and not being involved in heinous crimes.<br /></p>
