Dr Khwaja, who conducts counselling courses, was speaking on “Balancing your role as Principal/Manager/Mentor/Teacher”. “An institution is made for people and not vice versa. Give individual attention to students and reach out to teachers and parents to understand their problems,” he added, highlighting the need for empathising with them.

On teachers’ role in influencing students, he opined that a teacher should be a

motivated person first, in order to motivate his students. “If students have a lofty long-term goal, ask him to back it up with a short-term goal and achieve that first.”

Delivering a talk on “Leadership in Education: Criticality of your role”, Dileep Ranjekar, the CEO of the Azim Premji Foundation, said: “Much is talked about the economic growth of India, but many rural parts of India are reeling under poor living conditions.

Education is the only ray of hope and what matters is its quality.” Earlier, after introducing the speakers to the audience, S V Srinivasan, Deputy General Manager - Circulation, The Printers (Mysore) Private Limited said that the topics chosen for the talks were pertinent to the daily life and work of the principals.
