Rain threat to final

Last Updated 31 May 2014, 17:15 IST

With skies opening up with ferocity around 9.00 pm on Saturday, the threat of rain was looming large on IPL-7 final with 60 percent of rain predicted on Sunday afternoon. However, there is a reserve day for the final on Monday.

Here is the rain rule for the final: In the event that it is not possible to schedule a 5-over match to complete by the end of the extra time on the reserve day by 1.10 am on Monday, the teams will, if conditions permit, play a Super Over to determine the winner of that match. The pitch and ground must be ready for play so that the Super Over can start at the latest by 1.10am on the relevant day. If it is not possible to play the Super Over, the team that finished highest in the league table after the 56 matches of the regular season shall be declared the winner.

This means Kings XI Punjab, who finished on 22 points as against Kolkata Knight Riders’ 18, will take home the trophy in case of a washout.
