NDA ministers seek to evolve work culture

Last Updated 03 June 2014, 19:33 IST

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying down his governance mantra within a week of occupying Raisina Hill, different ministers are evolving a new work culture to stimulate bureaucracy and expedite the decision-making process.

The ministers themselves are taking the initiative to have inter-ministerial meetings with colleagues on common subjects to avoid bottlenecks for faster decision-making, without running to the PM as was the case in the UPA. Some of them have also begun organizing pep talks by bringing in motivational speakers to restore confidence among demoralized bureaucrats.

The concept for motivational lectures was conceived by Minister of State Piyush Goyal, with independent charge of the ministries of power, coal and new and renewable energy (MNRE). Prakash Javadekar, who holds the joint portfolio of MoS for information and broadcasting and environment and forest, was also present at the "Sampark, Samanvay evam Samvad" (Connect, Coordinate and Communicate) conclave held on Monday morning involving the officials of three ministries.
