Police nab 15, recover ` 4.5 lakh worth property

In three separate cases, city police have arrested 15 persons and have recovered properties totalling worth Rs 4.56 lakh.

While two among them were arrested on the charges of house burglary and theft, helping the police recover stolen articles worth Rs 4.50 lakh, 13 others were arrested for gambling.

Syed Wasim alias Wasim alias Waseem alias ‘Billy’, aged 22 years and resident of Azeez Sait Nagar in the city was apprehended by City Crime Branch (CCB) police on June 5, when he was travelling in a car near Old Kesare road.

Wasim had a bag in his possession, consisting silver articles weighing three kgs worth Rs three lakh. Upon interrogation, he confessed to have stolen the articles from a house at Kuvempunagar Extension in Chikkamagalur town in the last week of May.

A known offender, Wasim has pending cases in various police stations in the city- Metagalli, N R, Vijayanagar, Mandi, Udaygiri, Pandavapura station in Mandya district.

Besides, he is wanted in a similar case in Talvadi police station limits in Tamil Nadu and a murder case reported in Coimbatore station limits.

Four vehicles recovered

In another case busted by V V Puram police,  a vehicle-lifter was arrested and four two-wheelers worth Rs 1.50 lakh was recovered from him.

The accused identified as Yogesh alias Yogi, aged 29 years is from Bolanahalli, Hunsur taluk in Mysore district.

The police team led by Inspector V Sooryanarayan Rao was on patrolling during the afternoon hours, when they came across two youths riding on a two-wheeler. 

While the pillion rider took to heels, Yogesh who was riding the mobike fell in the police net.

The absconding pillion rider has been identified as Ravi Chandra of Ayarahalli. The duo had lifted various bikes in Mysore and Mandya districts.

Following the arrest of Yogesh, police have solved one case of vehicle theft registered in Metagalli station in Mysore and three in Mandya west station.

In a raid on a shop turned gambling den, in Lashkar police limits, CCB police arrested 13 persons on the charges of gambling and recovered various articles, including the stake amount of Rs 6,650.

The other articles include 13 cell phones, three autorickshaws and a two-wheeler.

The accused are - Ayub, Aslam Pasha, Aijaz Pasha, Razaq Pasha, Wasim Pasha, Rehman, Shafi, Tabraiz, Alla Baksh, Syed Muktiyar, Syed Siddiq, Mohammed Ahmed, and Mohammed Sulaiman Sait, owner of the vacant shop, where the card game was being held.
