The High Court on Friday ordered issuance of notice to the State government and the Bangalore Development Authority with regard to a petition which challenged the government’s decision of forming a Cabinet sub-committee in March to look into the report of Justice B Padmaraj panel on ‘G’ category sites allotment.

The HC had directed the government in August 2012 to constitute a committee to find out the irregularities with regard to allotment of ‘G’ category sites and accordingly, the Justice B Padmaraj Committee was constituted. The committee submitted its report in August 2013.

The HC had also directed the government to implement the recommendations of the committee.

However, the government neither implemented the report nor has taken any action.

The petitioner, Jayakumar Hiremath, has contended that the inaction from the government’s end is an effort to protect the interests of politicians and other persons who have been allotted sites though they did not meet the necessary criteria.

The petitioner has said failure of the government to implement the committee report has resulted in a situation where persons holding high public offices are continuing to perpetuate illegality.

The petitioner has sought directions from the court to publish and implement Justice Padmaraj committee report and direct BDA to take action based on the recommendation in the report.
