Legislature sits for one hour, put off

No political party was keen to hold the session as the members are busy with the elections to the Legislative Council from local bodies constituencies. The state cabinet had  fixed the date for the session much before the Election Commission released the time table for council elections. Hence, the House met.

The joint business advisory committee, which met before the session on Monday, decided to have the session from December 21 to 24 and from December 29 to 31.

Chairman Veeranna Mathikatti, in the Legislative Council, said that the House would hold proceedings between 10 am and 6 pm. On the last day (December 31) the House would meet till afternoon as farewell function for members, whose term will end on the first week of January, had been organised late on the day.
