Chain snatching continues unabated

Two held

Basaveshwarnagar police arrested two persons who were reportedly involved in various chain snatching incidents and recovered five gold chains, weighing 104 gm and valued at Rs 1.5 lakh, a bike and other gold ornaments weighing 56.250 gms from them here on Sunday. According to the police, Ranganath alias Ranga (22) of Kamakhshipalya had allegedly committed the offences using a bike stolen 11 months ago. He would target women walking alone on roads and also during night and snatch their chains from behind. He would later sell them at jewellery shops in Rajajinagar and Sunkadakatte through his accomplice Paramesh (22).

The accused had also sold the bike after giving it a different coat of paint, to one Shashikumar of Kaverinagar, Kurubarahalli. With Ranga's arrest, four cases of chain snatching and two cases of house burglary reported at Basaveshwarnagar police station limits is solved.
