Indian shuttlers Ashwini Ponnappa and Tarun Kona lost their mixed doubles first round clash of the $750,000 Indonesian Open Super Series Premier at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Tuesday

The World No 21 German pair of Peter Kaesbauer and Isabel Herttrich came from behind after losing the first game 19-21 to win the next two 21-14, 21-19.

In the qualifiers, H S Prannoy and Sourabh Verma failed to reach the men’s singles main draw after going down in their respective second rounds at the hands of local players.
 While Alamsyah Yunus beat Prannoy 22-20, 22-20 in 46 minutes, Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo defeated Verma 21-13, 19-21, 21-16 in 59 minutes.
