A 16-year-old student allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Malleswaram.
The victim was identified as Jitendra, a resident of Madesh Nagar near Sunkadakatte. He was a son of Mahendra Singh, an employee at a private readymade plastic material factory, said the railway police.
A few local residents noticed a body near the railway track and called the police who rushed to the spot and established the victim’s identity based on an identity card found in his shirt pocket, said the police.
Failed in SSLC exam
A native of Rajasthan, Jitendra had failed to clear his Class 10 exams last year. His father brought him to Bangalore and admitted him to a private school.
However, he failed to clear the exams this time as well and went into depression, said the police.
He might have taken the extreme step due to depression, the police added.
