Investigation into the murder of Saurabh Rastogi, senior manager at Genpact, has revealed that the alleged killer Reshvin Chengappa had sent an SMS to Rastogi’s wife Ankisha after the crime.

A top police source said that Chengappa had sent a message ‘WD” to Ankisha after the murder. The police suspect that “WD” stands for “Work Done.” Ankisha had replied to Chengappa’s message with a few question marks.

This suggests that she was apparently not aware what “WD” meant. But the police are still investigating the case to ascertain whether Ankisha had any role in her husband’s murder.

Chengappa, who too is an employee of Genpact, had a liking for Ankisha and allegedly murdered Saurabh so that he can marry her some time later. He had been planning to kill Saurabh for a long time, but decided to act when he came to know that Ankisha and Saurabh would leave India for the USA on June 27, the sources said.

It has also come to light that Chengappa even took a shower at Saurabh’s flat to wash the bloodstains on him after he allegedly stabbed the victim eight times on June 14 at Suncity Corporate Leisure apartment at Iblur.

Chengappa, who did his schooling in Chandigarh, had moved to the City along with his parents some 15 years ago. The family lived in Koramangala. His father, a native of Kodagu, is said to be an ex-serviceman.

Sources said Ankisha was working as an MBA lecturer, and joined Genpact after her marriage. Chengappa, who was also working in the same company, was pursuing MBA through correspondence mode. He would often approach Ankisha seeking help in his studies. In the process, he fell for her.
