The CBI on Tuesday commenced the process of conducting lie-detector tests of the five accused in the sensational rape and murder of two teenaged girls here.

The CBI team has taken the permission of the local court for subjecting the accused to polygraph test as it wanted to verify the statements given by them.

The post-mortem report of the two girls confirmed that they were raped before murder.

Five accused— three brothers Pappu Yadav, Awadhesh Yadav and Urvesh Yadav and Constables Chhatrapal Yadav and Sarvesh Yadav—have been arrested in the case that  sparked nationwide outrage.

A Central Forensic Science Laboratory team is carrying out the polygraph test here on the accused. The exercise is likely to be spread over three days.
