Father gets 14 years jail term for raping daughter

Pronouncing the verdict in two cases pertaining to the Paravoor sex scandal, the Ernakulam Additional Sessions court on Wednesday sentenced the victim’s father, who raped and prostituted her, to 14 years’ imprisonment.

The victim’s mother, Subaida, was awarded a seven-year term. In 2009, Sudheer raped his minor daughter in North Paravoor. The victim was subsequently abused by many people after being lured into the flesh trade under the pretence of film opportunities.

Three others accused in the case – Vijayakumar, a film producer, Biju Narayanan, an associate film director and Manoj, a middleman involved in the sex racket, – were awarded a seven-year term each.
