She has made the nation groove to her hits like Second Hand Jawani, Jadoo Ki Jhappi, Dhating Naach, Paani Paani and London Thumakda. And she promises to enthrall her fans this year as well with a number of catchy songs.
But what many may not know is Neha Kakkar is a great actress too. “I was on Comedy Circus Ke Tansen with Kapil Sharma and Ali Asgar. I enjoyed it and if I get a good offer to act, why not?” she reveals.
The young star’s popularity is on the rise thanks to social media. Not long ago, a selfie video of hers titled Botal Khol went viral. “It happened when this movie titled ‘Prague’ came out.
The makers couldn’t promote the song or the film. But the song was really good and everyone who heard it just loved it. So I made a selfie video and put it on YouTube. But it was only after a few months that people started downloading it on WhatsApp. Soon, everyone on my Facebook fan page and Twitter account started saying that the video was great,” she recalls.
“I thought I would do more such videos and have been doing them whenever I can. People love them and appreciate the way I express myself and I’m happy that I have more than one million fans on Facebook now.”
She has sung many songs with the sensational rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. Her year started with a bang as she sung the hit song Paani Paani (for Yaariyan) with him. “Before that, I had worked with him on a single called ‘Satan’. He is an extremely cool person and our personalities match, so we work well together,” she exclaims.
Recalling the launch of Yaariyan, she beams with pride as she says, “I performed with Honey Singh and he described me as the cutest artiste of India and one of his favourite singers.”
Her latest hit was London Thumakda from ‘Queen’ which was composed by the much-loved Amit Trivedi. “He had worked with my sister Sonu Kakkar on the song Aali Re Saali Re from ‘No One Killed Jessica’. This time, he told her to get me along and it was great fun to do gidda,” she explains.
“Unlike what people think, Amit talks a lot. He is a chilled out person.” A former contestant of ‘Indian Idol’, Neha considers reality shows as a good platform for talent. “If you are talented enough, you will definitely reach somewhere. In fact, I’d love to do more and more reality shows.
Since I love to dance, I’d like to do a show like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,” she informs. Neha has sung three more songs with Honey Singh out of which, one will be used in Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar. “The other two will be used in movies too but it hasn’t been decided which movies they will be part of.”
Ask her if there is any actress that she would love sing for and pat comes the reply, “Alia Bhatt! She is just so cute and pretty.”
