Pre-monsoon rain eases power crisis

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he said power consumption by irrigation pumpsets has come down drastically owing to heavy rain in the last eight days. The State has the capacity to generate 105 million units power at present. Referring to the depletion in the water level in major reservoirs, he said that in order to use the available water economically, the generation of hydel power will be minimised. He said the purchase of power from private companies will be stopped shortly.

He said that the CM will lay foundation stone for a thermal power plant at Yaramaras in Raichur district. Work related to construction of third unit of Bellary thermal power plant will by kickstarted in first week of June. Eshwarappa dismissed reports regarding his differences with CM as rumours. “We don’t have any difference and our relationship is cordial,” he stated.
