Duron Energy eyes rural markets

Priced at Rs 5,999, the system is equipped with three LED lights, integrated battery and battery charge indicator with advanced control electronics, plug-and-play installation and a solar panel. It can generate 30 watt hours of energy in the span of a day.

Duron Energy President John Howard said “The company saw huge potential in India as it has large rural base where the supply of electricity is insufficient.” He added that solar awareness was more in Karnataka than in other states as the government of Karnataka has been doing a lot to promote solar energy. The company has employed aggressive marketing strategies to market the product like live demonstrations in rural areas, along with the use of posters and flyers.

The product is manufactured by contractors in Ahmedebad and Bangalore in ISO 9001 facilities. It comes with a one year warranty period and after sales service network with support technicians. Launched a month ago, the company has sold 1,000 units till date.
