The installation ceremony of the new team for the Rotary Club of Bangalore Cantonment was held recently at Atria Hotel.

The meeting started with an invocation song and moved on to presentations of the report for the year —the projects which were undertaken and completed by the Club. An outline of the vision for the ensuing year was also shared at the event. Rotarian Jasbir Singh Dhody was installed as the new president and Rotarian Samir Gupta was installed as the new secretary along with the other office-bearers for the year ahead. The chief guest for the evening was Prof MV Rajeev Gowda, Member of Parliament.

Sharing encouraging thoughts on the occasion, Rotarian Jasbir Singh Dhody gave a speech which had film music and film dialogues in it, which left the audience in splits. He said that in this new tenure, the Club will be focussing on three different things — new board structure, where every member will have different responsibilities with the Club, making the Club e-friendly with a new website and focusing on different projects on ‘disease prevention and cure’.

“As the incoming president, I wish to encourage the Club members in finding happiness in what they do, with bonding and good fellowship, while encouraging more through the year,” he said. On the occasion, Rotarian Samir Gupta, the Incoming Secretary, said that it was a learning experience to be a part of Rotary Club as it offered a great chance to interact with people from different fields of life and work with them.

“We work on a common cause for the betterment of the society and everyone brings their own qualities to the table. Each one is a leader in his own way and we learn to co-exist and work together,” said Samir. He added that since not everyone is able to stand up and do something for the society, the Club is a great platform to come together as a group and be a part of the different projects that Rotary believes in.Having been with the Club since its inception, Rotarian Shailendra Gupta, Chartered Founder Member and past president said that he wished to see the activities evolve over the new year.

“It has been a long journey and a memorable one. Its gratifying that we had an opportunity to enhance and touch lives of young and old alike in the community and to enable them to lead a life of dignity and purpose through our many projects,” he said. Shailendra added that an impressive feature of the Club was that it was a vibrant club because of the fusion of ideas and energy that its members continually brought in.

The Assistant Governor of Rotary District 3190 and Rotary District Governor Manjunath Shetty were also present at the occasion. The event was well attended and was an glittering evening, which was in line with the Rotary International’s theme for the Year ‘Light Up Rotary’. There was a toast raised to the President of India and Rotary president at the end of the evening.
