With an Intelligence Bureau report pointing fingers at NGOs for misusing foreign funds, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday advocated the need for sensitising such organisations about complying with rules related to receiving and using foreign funds.

His comments came at a meeting convened to review the functioning of the Foreigners' Division of the Home Ministry. “The Home Minister desires that all NGOs receiving foreign funds are sensitised about the compliance with the FCRA Act and other rules,” it said in a statement. The report “NGO Activism against Development Projects in India: A Review”, prepared by the Intelligence Bureau, has created controversy by saying “foreign-funded” NGOs were out to turn India's development clock backward through motivated protests.
