Samarth slams ton

R Sam­arth struck a century before retiring as President’s XI amassed 336 for two in 90 overs on the opening day of their two-day encounter against Bangalore Zone in the Safi Darashah Trophy tournament here at the BGS ground on Monday.

Batting first, President’s flourished on the back of Samarth’s (108, 184b, 4x4) patient knock to run up an impressive total. Besides the right-hander, President’s saw good contributions from M Nidhish (84 n.o.), Suraj Sampath (54) and Pavan Deshpande (52 n.o.).

In another match at the IAF ground, all-rounder Shreyas Gopal slammed 123 (168b, 12x4) to help Vice-President’s XI score 305 all out in 90 overs.
