Around seven to eight kg of ganja was found near the interview room, outside the gate of the Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara on Saturday morning.
According to police officials, the jailor of the prison got a call from an unknown person informing him of the ganja lying outside the gate.
The jail personnel, after a search found the contraband in packed in a small gunny bag.
The narcotic substance was handed over to the Parappana Agrahara police.
A case has been registered. An official from the Prisons department said that peddler might have left the contraband outside the jail after seeing the policemen on duty.
