Her debut film Amit Sahni Ki List released over the weekend and she terms the release day as “the first Friday of her life”.

Newbie Anindita Nayar plays a pivotal role in the unique comedy and says she thoroughly enjoyed working with stand-up comedian-turned-actor Vir Das.

“The box office number is more of a producer’s care. The actors have to care about the reviews their film receives. By now, a lot of people have seen the movie and appreciated it. So it’s been good so far,” she tells Metrolife.

Anindita plays the role of Devika, an investment banker.

“She is the main person on Amit’s list! The entire story is about finding her so she is a central character in the film,” she explains. “She is a graduate from the Wharton School of Business. So it goes without saying that she is ambitious and doesn’t compromise on anything in life,” she adds.

Ask her how was the experience of working with Vir Das and she says, “Imagine being with a stand-up comedian for over a month! One should actually pay to work with him. In fact, Vir was one of the reasons I did the film. Of course it had a lot to do with the script as well. But also, I have liked all the films he does.” She adds, “Everything happening on the sets was organic. All Vir had to do was give and I had to reciprocate.”

Anindita is working on two more films now — Sanjay Dutt’s Hasmukh Pighal Gaya and Vishal Matkar’s ‘3 AM’. Hasmukh Pighal Gaya is a star-studded film with Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff in the lead roles.

“I have finished shooting for it and it is a quirky satire. I am also working on a film called ‘3 AM’ opposite Rannvijay Singh. I play a journalist in it,” she notes.

Having been brought up on typical Bollywood potboilers, she says, “I am a diehard Bollywood masala person. I have grown up on Govinda and Salman’s movies. I enjoy watching meaningful cinema as well.”

Her favourite actor is Salman Khan. “I’d love to work with him someday. I’d also like to work with young actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.”

She has a long list of directors she would like to work with as well like Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwani, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar.

“I’d like to do stuff that people will remember. I am getting started now so I want to do commercial as well as meaningful roles. The balance is quite important,” she sums up.
