They were arrested while moving suspiciously near HSR Layout and questioned.

It then came to light they had murdered Mukund, a carpenter and resident of Uttarahalli on July 25 in Kodathi.

Mukund, who was carrying out carpentry works in an under-construction apartment, had, along with his colleagues, gone to attend the call of nature near an eucalyptus grove. While returning the three suspects accosted them demanding their mobiles, which Mukund refused.

Fearing they would be assaulted, Mukund’s colleague fled, while Mukund was stabbed to death by the trio, police said.

A senior police officer said initially, police suspected the colleagues. But when questioned, it was found they were not involved. During the rounds, the police picked up the youths who confessed to the crime. The trio move around isolated areas robbing people by threatening them with assault weapons,” police said.
