Singapore-based carrier Tigerair on Tuesday signed a “strategic partnership” with online travel portal (OTP) Cleartrip in an effort increase customer efficiency and cope with the growing tourist market in India.

The partnership  will allow Cleartrip direct access to Tigerair’s booking engine for availability of inventory across the Tigerair network.  This marks the airline’s second major deal with an OTP, since a similar deal with Make My Trip. Commercial Director of Tigerair, Robert Yang said, India is a growing market and partnerships like these should help us expand our reach and meet our targets.

When asked about expanding its presence in other parts of the country besides the south, which Tigerair has focussed on so far, Yang said, “we are looking into that but as of now our main aim is to solidify our presence in existing markets. To achieve this we are looking at increasing the frequency of our flights.”

President and COO of Cleartrip, Samyukth Sridharan said, “The number of people that use OTPs to vacation has rapidly grown in India. Initially people used only their desktops but now most of the traffic we see is through our mobile application. As of now about one-third of all domestic booking are all done on our mobile application.”
