AP to get single-window clearance system

Last Updated 06 August 2014, 19:11 IST

Taking a lesson from Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said the state government would by September 1 establish an online mechanism for single-window clearances.

Naidu said that the purpose of establishing the system, which is being designed by Deloitte, is to create an investor-friendly climate in Andhra Pradesh. Stating that Gujarat’s single-window mechanism facilitated speedy clearances, the chief minister said the Andhra Pradesh policy would, too, remove unnecessary hurdles that prevent investors from obtaining necessary sanctions for projects. His department studied the industrial policies of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

To further boost investment prospects for the state, the Andhra Pradesh government will also set up a State Investment Promotion Council (SIPC) and District Investment Promotion Councils (DIPC) to give in-principle approvals to industries.  A society for front office, at the state and district level, will be set up to receive applications.

Besides, the chief minister has proposed that industrial parks in Visakhapatnam have a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to monitor and follow-up on approvals of companies located in the IT park premises. District-level industries have also been asked to upgrade infrastructure and human resources.
